About Me:

My name is Robyn Biliack and I am a senior at ASU, I will be graduating in May if everything goes accordingly.  I am graduating with a BA in Communications, and have a minor in Sign Language.  This is my second Justice class, I liked the first class I took so much I thought I would try another.
I will be focusing on Animal Cruelty throughout my blogs because I think it is such a serious topic that is sadly overlooked quite often.  I am a major pet lover, I currently have a Weimaraner, German Shepherd, and a Rhodesian Ridgeback.  Having grown up with animals my whole life I feel many people take their pets for granted.  I will discuss animal abuse on many different levels, such as the food industry and milling.  I am very interested in this assignment and hope to discover new things right along with my blog followers.  Can’t wait to see what everyone will be discussing with their own interests.  Hope you enjoy the blog!

  1. You are right animal cruelty is overlooked. I am an advocate myself but I would have animal cruelty at the bottom of my list. I feel that there are more important things to tackle versus animal cruelty. I think it’s crazy that when slaves were considered property and treated like animals no one really cared about “animal cruelty”. Now there are other problems that African Americans face more than any other race which is poverty. Some would argue that it is self inflicted while others would say it’s the government. But where is poverty on the state’s agenda probably at the bottom???
Anyway, I try to view your blog even though I don’t find it an interesting topic but I admire you because this is something you care about and you want to educate the class. So hopefully, this blog will help me empathize and get educated about the subject.

  2. Kris, thanks for your input. I do agree with you as to why slaves never got help a long time ago, however that is not the scenario I am trying to paint. This is nearly just an over view of animal abuse now days, and how it has developed. There are all kinds of problems in the world, some get addressed, some don't and many that don't get addressed the way they should. I do however agree about the slave issue, but today is a different time even though there is still racism in the world.

  3. I would say that I would consider myself a free rider in this movement. I think I would like to own a cat and maybe a small dog (I am terrified of big dogs)LOL and it's wrong to neglect animals. I guess I don't really understand because I don't have animals.

  4. you should totally get a pet! Cat's are great I have 4 growing up and they were so cute and cuddly. I love dogs though because I feel they have bigger personalities, I am just an animal lover in general. They will be your best friend, always there for you when you get home, and some to talk to lol.
